Denver Police investigating homicide near Sloan's Lake

DENVER — Denver Police are investigating the death of a man found in a vehicle in June as a homicide.

Police said around 11 p.m. on June 5, David Urena-Cruz, 23, was found dead inside a vehicle in the area of West Byron Place and North Yates Street, just north of Sloan's Lake.

The coroner's office said he died of stab wounds. 

Police said Urena-Cruz had recently moved out of his apartment, and was known to sleep in his vehicle at Sloan's Lake. 

Anyone with information that may help the police investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
