Suspect arrested after woman killed in shooting in Denver

The shooting happened early in the morning of Feb. 2 in the 1400 block of Xenia Street, according to police.

DENVER — A woman died from her injuries after she was shot early in the morning Feb. 2 in the 1400 block of Xenia Street, Denver Police said.

Officers responded to the shooting just before 12:30 a.m. outside of an apartment building in the area of Xenia Street and East 14th Avenue. The victim, a woman, was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased, police said.

Police said that evening that they had arrested Charles Dorsey, 39, and that he was being held for investigation of first-degree murder. 

The shooting is being investigated as a domestic violence-related homicide, according to police. 

In June, the coroner's office said the victim has been identified as Maria Pangelinan, 29.
