Police investigate 'likely homicide' in Commerce City

Police said the victim was found inside a home on Oneida Drive Thursday afternoon.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Police are investigating what appears to be a homicide in Commerce City. 

The Commerce City Police Department said on Facebook Thursday that a person was found dead inside a home at around 1:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of Oneida Drive.

Police initially called it a suspicious death but later said their preliminary investigation suggested it was a "likely homicide."

It's not clear how the person died. The name of the victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office.

Anyone with information is asked to call Commerce City Police's tip line at 303-289-3626.

Those with information can also call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
