Man sought after 3 shootings and 2 carjackings in Colorado Springs

Five crimes that occurred between 10 a.m. and 6:11 p.m. are thought to be related, according to Colorado Springs police.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Three shootings and two carjackings that happened in Colorado Springs Saturday are related and police are still looking for a suspect they believe was involved in those crimes, according to a release from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). 

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Kyree Davon Howard-Walker of Colorado Springs.

It started just after 10 a.m. when officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Westmeadow Drive. Police said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to CSPD. Police learned the next day that he had died.

Around the same time, CSPD said they received a report of a carjacking in the 3700 block of Penny Point. That is just east of where the shooting occurred. Police said a male suspect stole a black Dodge Journey.

Then, just after 3:40 p.m., there was a report of another shooting, according to CSPD. Officers responded to the 200 block of South Wahsatch Ave. where they found a man who appeared to have been shot. He was brought to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive, according to CSPD. 

While officers were on the scene of that shooting, police said they received reports that someone was shooting at cars near South Wahsatch Avenue and East Costilla Street. That's about two blocks south of the second shooting. Witnesses told police that the suspect stole a green Buick LeSabre with Colorado license plate 350-U0M. That car has since been recovered.

Just after 6:10 p.m., CSPD said, officers responded to the 4300 block of Fountain Springs Grove for yet another reported shooting. Police said they found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound.

CSPD said they believe all off the incidents are related based on evidence collected during the investigation of each crime.

Howard-Walker is wanted on charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and menacing. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous
