LITTLETON, Colo. — A Jefferson County man has been charged after investigators found evidence that he sexually assaulted multiple women who appeared to be unconscious in his living room, prosecutors said on Thursday.
The 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office said the alleged assaults happened between 2004 and 2008.
Investigators found out about the assaults earlier this year, after the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children task force linked 63-year-old Christopher Jackson to an alleged upload of child pornography.
"The suspect in this case brought it on himself by uploading pornography online that could be identified as coming from him, which then led to the charges against him," said Scott Robinson, 9NEWS legal analyst.
During that investigation, deputies seized computers, cellphones and electronic storage devices from Jackson's home in the Ken Caryl area of south Jefferson County.
On one of the storage devices, prosecutors said, investigators found footage of four women who were sexually assaulted in what investigators believe is Jackson's living room. The women appeared unconscious, prosecutors said.
Megan Carvajal with The Blue Bench a sexual assault support center, said in her experience, victims not remembering affects them differently.
“We don’t have a sense of control of how we can help ourselves move forward,” Carvajal said. “We don’t have a sense of control over our own destiny to heal and thrive because we can’t put all the pieces together.”
Using metadata from the videos, investigators determined they were captured between Dec. 19, 2004, and Feb. 2, 2008.
"Eyewitness testimony, individual victim testimony is important, but if you have a videotape of an individual sexually assaulting another individual who is unconscious, your case is pretty much made," Robinson said.
Investigators said one of the women in the videos is now deceased. Investigators were able to identify all of the woman, and when investigators contacted them, they said they had no memory or knowledge of the incidents captured in the videos.
Investigators determined the women had likely been in contact with Jackson at bars in the south Jefferson County area. They said they believe there might be additional victims. Anyone who may have seen or interacted with Jackson in relation to these allegations is asked to call 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office investigator Kim Holmes at 303-271-6915.
Jackson was arrested in August and posted bond in September. He is charged with six counts of sexual assault, prosecutors said. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 9.
