2 arrested after apparent road rage shooting and police pursuit I-70

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said the suspects were arrested after a chase that ended in Jefferson County.

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies arrested two suspects in connection with an apparent road rage shooting Wednesday morning in Clear Creek County.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that deputies were dispatched early Wednesday to the area of mile marker 220 on eastbound Interstate 70 to a man who had been injured in an apparent road rage shooting.

When deputies got there, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was able to give deputies a description of the person who shot him and his vehicle, according to the release.

An Idaho Springs Police officer spotted the vehicle on eastbound I-70, the release said. He tried to stop the driver, but the driver took off and the officer started a pursuit. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was notified and helped with the chase.

The driver kept going into Jefferson County, the release said, and got off the interstate at the Lookout Mountain exit. He tried to get back on I-70 at the same exit at high speed, but rolled over several times before coming to a stop, according to the news release.

Two suspects, a male driver and a female passenger, were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, the sheriff's office said. Their names have not been released.

The victim was also taken to a hospital.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are investigating.
