PUEBLO, Colo. — Police in Pueblo are asking for the public's help finding a boy and a girl who have been missing for more than five years after a child's remains were found in concrete.
The Pueblo Police Department said on the morning of Jan. 10, someone cleaning out a storage unit found a metal container that was filled with hardened concrete. Investigators searched the metal container and found the remains of a child inside.
The child's name has not been released. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
The owner of the storage facility, Kings Storage on Sixth Street, told 9NEWS the person renting the unit hadn't paid for several months. The owner said she gave the person until the end of the day Jan. 10 to clean out the unit. It's unclear who found the container and called police, but police said that person was not an employee of the storage facility.
Police are now trying to find two children as part of their investigation. Their names are Jesus Dominguez and Yesenia Dominguez, and they have not been seen since around the summer of 2018, according to police.
Pueblo Police said the two children had not been reported missing to their department. Officers had previously been asked to conduct welfare checks on the children, but when they went to the address to conduct the checks, they were never able to make contact with the children, police said. It's unclear when those welfare checks were conducted.
Jesus Dominguez was about 5 years old when he was last seen, and he would currently be about 10 years old. Yesenia Dominguez was about 3 years old when she was last seen, and she would currently be 9, police said.
Police said they have interviewed two people of interest in the case. No arrests have been made.
