GREELEY, Colo. — The Weld County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding a car theft suspect who escaped from their custody Wednesday.
The sheriff's office said in a release that Luis Fernando Cerda-Regaldo, 27, was being medically cleared before being booked into jail when he escaped from custody at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and left on foot at around 7:30 p.m.
He had been arrested earlier in the day on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction and attempting to influence law enforcement, according to the sheriff's office.
Cerda-Regaldo was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark-colored pants, and white shoes with a blue stripe. He's 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair and he has a short beard. He has a tattoo of an unknown design on his right arm.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone who sees him or knows where he is to call 911 or contact them at 970-350-9600.
Tips can also be submitted to Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. People who submit tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to an arrest and filing of charges may be eligible for a cash reward.
