BROOMFIELD, Colo. — A man found dead inside a Broomfield home last week was a suspect in an attempted robbery who was stabbed to death by one of the home's residents, police said on Monday.

Broomfield Police said that officers responded about 3 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a stabbing in the 3900 block of Cambridge Avenue in the Brandywine neighborhood. When they arrived on scene, officers found a dead man inside the home.

The man, identified as Trenten Hansen, 30, was a suspect in a daytime robbery, police said.

Two adults were inside the home during the robbery, and one of them fatally stabbed Hansen. One of the residents sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Detectives are investigating how Hansen got to the area and why he went into the house, police said.

The investigation is still active, and police said they wouldn't release any more information at this time. It wasn't clear whether the resident could face charges.
