BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — A building contractor in Breckenridge was arrested Thursday on eight counts of felony theft, according to a release from the Fifth Judicial District Attorney's Office.
Justin Jeffre Ord, 43, is accused of entering into contracts with locals for construction work — which required upfront payments ranging between 60% and 80% of the contract's full price — and doing "little to no work," per the release.
The DA's office said Ord's charges include two counts of theft from an at-risk person, or an individual over the age of 70.
More than 12 people reported to local law enforcement that Ord had stolen from them, according to the release. The victims are said to live in Clear Creek, Summit, Lake, Park and Eagle counties.
Ord is accused of stealing more than $180,000 between 2021 and 2023, the DA's office said.
Summit County Sherriff's detectives arrested Ord at his home on a $100,000 warrant Thursday. He is due in court Jan. 10 in the Summit County Courthouse.
Anyone who believes they were a victim of construction fraud or theft or who knows someone who might be a victim, is asked to contact the Fifth Judicial District Attorney's Office at 970-453-3523.
