BOULDER, Colo. — Police are looking for a person who stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a jewelry store, the Boulder Police Department said on Wednesday.

Police said that just after noon Monday, officers responded to a robbery at John Atencio, located at 1048 Pearl St.

Witnesses told them that an unknown male wearing a surgical mask walked into the store and may have implied that he had a weapon. He then stole several thousand dollars worth of jewelry, police said.

The suspect, pictured below, is described as being a skinny white male, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall with short light brown hair and blue eyes who was last seen wearing a black hat, a surgical mask, a black hoody, blue jeans and a small black backpack with two shoulder straps.

Detectives believe he had watched the store for "a period of time" before the robbery. The robbery is not believed to be related to another jewelry store robbery in February, according to police.

Anyone who knows who the suspect is or has any information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Scott Byars at ByarsS@bouldercolorado.gov or 303-441-1970.
