Man stabbed, seriously injured on Boulder County trail

The sheriff's office said the stabbing happened Wednesday morning on the Tenderfoot Trail off of Chapman Drive.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who they say stabbed another man on a Boulder County hiking trail Wednesday morning.

The sheriff's office said they were called to the stabbing around 7:45 a.m. on Chapman Drive at the Tenderfoot Trail, which is an Open Space and Mountain Parks trail located west of Boulder, near the 3400 block of Flagstaff Road.

The victim was hiking when the suspect confronted him and stabbed him multiple times with a knife, the sheriff's office said. The suspect then ran up the Tenderfoot Trail to the Realization Point parking lot.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Deputies searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

Deputies said the victim had interacted with the suspect previously while using the trail, as they both frequent the area.  In an update Thursday, the sheriff's office said they've identified the suspect and said all people involved in the incident were cooperating.

Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to email bcsotips@bouldercounty.gov or call 303-441-3674.
