Suspect arrested after woman shot, killed in Aurora

Police said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. Friday at a home in the 1700 block of North Paris Street.

AURORA, Colo. — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that killed a woman in Aurora Friday night. 

The Aurora Police Department said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. Friday at a home in the 1700 block of North Paris Street. That's near East Colfax Avenue and Peoria Street. 

Police said a woman was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released. 

Police identified Kelynn Lewis, 32, as a suspect in the shooting. Lewis was arrested Sunday morning on a first-degree murder charge, police said.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
