Man shot outside Aurora shopping center

AURORA, Colo. — A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Aurora Saturday night. 

The Aurora Police Department said in a release that officers responded to a shopping center at the northeast corner of East Mississippi Avenue and South Peoria Street just before 8 p.m. for a shooting. 

They found the victim, a 21-year-old man, in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with what police said are life-threatening injuries. 

No one is in custody. Police do not know whether the shooter and the victim know each other. 

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
