Shooting in Aurora leaves 1 dead

It was the second deadly shooting in Aurora Thursday. Police do not believe the two are connected.

AURORA, Colo. — A 33-year-old man has died after a shooting Thursday afternoon in Aurora. 

The Aurora Police Department said officers responded to a report of a shooting near East Florida Avenue and South Peoria Street just before 4:45 p.m.

A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Just before 8:30 p.m., Aurora Police said the man had died and that the department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit was investigating.

No one has been arrested. Police said the shooting was not related to another shooting earlier in the day on East Ford Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
