Tips help identify person of interest in bus driver attack

The RTD bus driver sustained serious injuries in the May 20 attack.

AURORA, Colo. — A person of interest has been identified in connection with the attack on an RTD bus driver last month, according to the Aurora Police Department (APD).

On May 20, police said a passenger riding a Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus demanded to be let off the bus he was on in the area of South Dayton Street and East Jewell Avenue.

When the driver told the passenger he would have to wait until the next stop, police said the man assaulted him. The bus driver sustained serious injuries in the incident, according to police.

On Wednesday, police released photos of the suspect. They later said thanks to tips to their agency and Crime Stoppers, they had identified a person of interest.
