Man shot while pursuing hit-and-run driver, police say

Police said the chase began when someone crashed into the victim's parked car Wednesday night.

AURORA, Colo. — A man is in the hospital with gunshot wounds after following a suspect in a hit-and-run crash.

The Aurora Police Department (APD) said in a tweet Wednesday night that they were investigating a shooting stemming from a hit-and-run crash in the 600 block of South Potomac Street.

Police said the victim saw the suspect crash into his parked car and drive away, and the victim chased the suspect.

According to APD, the victim of the hit-and-run was shot in the arm and chest near East 6th Avenue and Toledo Street while chasing the suspect.

He went home, police said, and a neighbor took him to the hospital. Police said he was speaking with investigators and is expected to be OK.

Police said the only information they have about the suspect is that their vehicle was a white SUV.
