AURORA, Colo. — A Denver man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in North Aurora late Thursday night.
Officers with the Aurora Police Department (APD) responded to the area of East Colfax Avenue and North Joliet Street around 11:15 p.m. and found a 56-year-old man lying in the eastbound lanes with serious injuries. He died at the scene and will be identified at a later time by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.
Through their investigation, they determined that a black 2020 Nissan Altima was involved in the crash. That led officers to the 13600 block of East Colfax Avenue where they located the vehicle and arrested the driver shortly before 3 a.m.
The suspect's been identified as 21-year-old Jose Moya.
According to police, the Altima had damage consistent with striking a bicycle and Moya admitted to being involved in a crash. He was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
East Colfax Avenue was closed in both directions between North Joliet and Kingston streets for almost four hours. The roadway reopened at 3 a.m
