COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — A search is underway for a man who Commerce City Police said attempted to kidnap a young teenage girl and then followed her in his vehicle for several blocks Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred between 4:30 and 5 p.m. in the area of Second Creek Elementary School. The man followed the girl who was walking from the area of 100th Avenue and Laredo Drive about three blocks to 97th, where the teen contacted her parents, Commerce City Police said. Her parents immediately called 911.
Police don't have a license plate for the vehicle at this time but did provide a description of the car and the man involved, based on what the teen told them.
She described him as a bald Hispanic man, with a longer dark-colored beard. He also has a tattoo of a snake on his left outer forearm. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants.
His car was described as gray or silver with tinted windows and visible damage to the front fender on the driver's side near the headlight. There is possible damage to the taillight on the same side.
Anyone with information should call 911 or the investigative tip line at 303-289-3626.
