ARVADA, Colo. — Arvada Police said on Thursday they are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man last week.
Police said in a news release that officers responded at 6:03 a.m. Sept. 6 to the ABC Car Wash at 14835 W. 64th Ave. and found a man lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries.
The man, identified as 67-year-old David Brlej, was taken to the hospital where he died. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said his cause of death was not currently available.
Investigators determined the victim was driving a gray Lexus SUV when he apparently got into an altercation with the driver of a brown Ford Focus in the area of West 72nd Avenue and Indiana Street. Both drivers appeared to be going to work, police said.
The drivers continued to the car wash where the driver of the Lexus got out and the driver of the Ford appeared to stay in his vehicle.
The driver of the Ford then left the parking lot, and during that time it appears the collision with the Lexus driver took place, according to police.
Police said the driver of the Ford has been identified and the investigation is ongoing. The 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office will make the final determination on the potential filing of any charges.
Anyone with information or video of the crash is asked to contact police.
