ARVADA, Colo. — Two people have been arrested nearly 10 months after a man was found dead near a bus stop along a busy road in Arvada.
Arvada Police said officers were called to the bus stop located at 9825 W. 58th Ave. just after 8 a.m. on Jan. 17 to check on a man who was on the ground and unresponsive. When officers arrived, they found Salvador Vasquez dead, police said. He had suffered significant injuries, according to police.
Over the course of the investigation, police learned Vasquez had gotten into a physical altercation with Michaelee Britt, 36, and Ashley Romero, 32, at a home in the 8600 block of West 62nd Place in the early morning hours of Jan. 17. Vasquez left the home walking and died near the bus stop, police said. West 62nd Place is about a mile and half walk from where Vasquez' body was found.
Britt and Romero were arrested on suspicion of reckless manslaughter and second-degree assault.
Britt was arrested on Nov. 13 and Romero was taken into custody on Nov. 15, police said. Britt was released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond. Romero remains at the Jefferson County Detention Center under a $100,000 cash-only bond.
Britt's next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 12. Romero is scheduled to be in court on Thursday.
