BOULDER, Colo. — The Arapahoe Ridge High School campus has returned to normal operations following a lockdown Wednesday afternoon where the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office investigated a Safe2Tell report of a person with a weapon.
The school was originally placed on lockout at about 1 p.m., and later placed into lockdown status while deputies investigated the potential threat.
The lockdown included Arapahoe Ridge High School, Boulder Technical Education Center, Boulder Universal, BVSD Online, Engage Academy and the BVSD Transition Center, according to the Boulder Valley School District.
Deputies conducted a search of the school and grounds, and later determined that there was no threat on campus. At about 3 p.m., the school resumed to normal operations and dismissed students for the day.
A lockdown takes place when there is a safety concern regarding a potential threat to a school, or if there is a perceived threat within the school.
The Boulder Police Department, Colorado State Patrol and Lafayette Police Department assisted the sheriff's office with the incident.
BVSD said it will have counselors on hand to support students on Thursday.
Arapahoe Ridge High School is located at 6600 Arapahoe Road in Boulder.
