ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A man was shot Monday evening as he was selling jewelry near his home.
According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, at about 6:40 p.m. a man was shot and robbed while selling jewelry in the 300 block of West 80th Avenue. The man had non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies responding to the call were able to locate two people of interest in the shooting and took both into custody, the sheriff's office said in a post on the social platform X.
Sergeant Adam Sherman told 9NEWS it's a good reminder to be careful with online sales with the holiday season approaching.
"We do recommend that people meet you at a public place, if possible," Sherman said. "Any police department or fire department that would be local, and preferably somewhere well-lit with a lot of people around."
Sherman said meeting in a public place can also weed out people who might have bad intentions with the planned sale.
"It could be a great deterrent, too, because if you're making a transaction and you say, 'hey, meet me at this police department' and then the buyer, seller backs out, then you save yourself a lot of hassle and heartache.”
