ENGLEWOOD - Englewood Police have arrested five students from the Englewood School District for sexually assaulting a freshman girl at a party Sunday night.
Investigators are looking for an additional male student who has fled, according to a spokesperson with Englewood Schools.
According to Englewood Police, they found a juvenile girl in the 600 block of Englewood Parkway, and she told them she had been sexually assaulted at a party in the 3200 block of South Galapago that day. The party was attended by 10 to 12 people, including her. There was underage drinking as well as marijuana use at the party, according to the victim.
According to court documents, the victim was "inebriated" when she laid on a trampoline in the backyard of her boyfriend's house. At that point, six males allegedly sexually assaulted her. One was a 19-year-old adult, but the others were juveniles. Two are 16 and two are 15. The other suspect on the loose is a juvenile also.
The court documents say the boyfriend's mother was home at the time of the alleged sexual assaults.
District spokesperson Julie McGinley says a letter was sent home to parents on Friday at Englewood High School:
Some of the students arrested are from Englewood High School as well as the alleged victim. McGinley says all of the students involved attend schools within the Englewood School District.
Englewood Schools released the following statement regarding the incident:
"This past weekend, several students from Englewood Schools were at a party that involved drugs and alcohol. At this party, a sexual assault allegedly took place. Currently, five males have been arrested. We are very concerned about these events. We are cooperating fully with the police investigation and working to keep the victim safe while she is at school. We are also making sure that all students affected by these events are receiving the support and counseling they need."
McGinley says the freshman girl has returned to school, and security officials are making sure she feels safe at school. Englewood Police are conducting the investigation and have interviewed multiple witnesses who attended the party Sunday night.
