LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A Fort Collins woman is in custody following a fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 25 that left a motorcyclist dead early Thursday morning.
Kassy Winburn, 34, was found in a field not far from the crash after the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said the driver of the car involved fled on foot. She is suspected of causing the crash.
A car and a motorcycle were headed southbound in the right lanes on I-25 near East Harmony Road at about 12:45 a.m., when the car ran into the back of the motorcycle, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The motorcyclist who died is 38-year-old Greeley resident, Joseph Kroiss, the Sheriff's Office said. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Sheriff's Office said they suspect alcohol played a role in the crash.
Winburn had minor injuries and was booked into Larimer County Jail, the Sheriff's Office said.
