24-year-old accused in Utah shooting now named suspect in Golden homicide

Austin Boutain and his 23-year-old wife Kathleen were named as the sole suspects on Wednesday in the death of Mitchell Bradford Ingle.

The 24-year-old man accused of gunning down a University of Utah student is now named as a suspect in a death that left a 63-year-old man dead.

Austin Boutain and his 23-year-old wife Kathleen were named as the sole suspects on Wednesday in the death of Mitchell Bradford Ingle.

Golden investigators say they will recommend charges to the 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office for the pair that include first-degree murder, robbery and motor vehicle theft.

Austin is already being held in Salt Lake City on charges that stem from the botched carjacking and fatal shooting of ChenWei Guo, a University of Utah student from China.

He was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon after he was spotted by a librarian inside the Salt Lake City downtown public library. His arrest came on the heels of a manhunt that lasted for hours in the mountains surrounding the school.

After detectives in Utah spoke with Austin, they contacted Golden Police and asked them to do a welfare check on Ingle. Hours later, police found his body inside a trailer at the Clear Creek RV Park at 12:30 a.m.

Mitchell Bradford Ingle, 63, was found dead in an RV in Golden.

Golden detectives went to Utah to speak to Boutain about the Colorado case, which spurred the announcement that the Boutains were no longer persons of interests, but suspects on Wednesday.

Golden Police said in a release that Ingle and the Boutains had just recently met and did not have a long-term relationship, but didn't specify what their relationship was.

A preliminary investigation indicates Ingle had been dead for a few days. He had been staying in the Clear Creek RV Park on a short-term lease.

It's unclear how he was killed.

The pair is currently being held in a Salt Lake City jail.
