LOVELAND, Colo. — A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the 2022 killing of a woman in Loveland.
Asa Peck, 45, was arrested near the intersection of North Garfield Avenue and West 4th Street after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to the Loveland Police Department.
On Aug. 22, 2022, at 11:12 a.m., officers responded near Barnes Park, 405 S. Cleveland Ave., for an unresponsive woman in the river. The woman, later identified as 49-year-old Chantell Wilkes, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have never said how she died, only that her death was being investigated as a homicide. They also did not say whether there was any connection between Peck and Wilkes.
“I am incredibly proud of the diligence and commitment from our Criminal Investigation Division in solving this case," said Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran in a news release. "While we understand this will not take away the pain Chantell’s family and friends are feeling, we are hopeful the progress in this case will bring her loved ones some peace."
Peck was booked into the Larimer County Jail and is being held on a $2 million cash-only bond.
