1 killed, another critically injured in west Denver shooting

The shooting happened near West 5th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard Saturday evening.

DENVER — A man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after they were shot in west Denver Saturday evening.

Denver Police (DPD) said the shooting happened near the intersection of West 5th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard a little bit before 6:30 p.m. 

The victims were inside a car when they were shot, police said. They were rushed to a hospital where the man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. He has been identified as Manuel Luque-Quintana, 29.

Investigators are working to identify the suspect or suspects, police said.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
