BOULDER — Two women who attend the University of Colorado in Boulder were hospitalized early Thursday morning after police said they unknowingly ingested drugs in their alcoholic drinks at parties near campus.

"The females were at multiple parties," Shannon Aulabaugh, Boulder Police spokesperson, said. "We do not have any reason to believe that that the two victims know each other."

The two students were in the University Hill neighborhood at the time. Aulabaugh said at this point, investigators don’t know if the women were at the same party, since they were not in a condition to be interviewed by officers.

"Just because we received two incidents, two incident reports, we're putting this notice out to the public just to err on the side of caution," Aulabaugh said.

She says that predators use a variety of drugs to slip into the drinks of unsuspecting women.

"In some cases, there may be no taste at all," Aulabaugh said. "In some cases, it may be a cloudy color which is very hard to see in dim lighting."

Police said partygoers should never leave their drinks unattended or accept them from strangers, as well as consume alcohol from common, open containers.

Student Sarah Poling says friends should watch out for each other at parties.

"Especially if you're going to be drinking at night and things like that as a young woman especially in college," Poling said. "It's just really smart to make your own drinks and be aware."

If you or someone know believes they have been drugged, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
