4 dead after shooting in southeast Colorado

CBI and the La Junta Police Department are investigating the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide.

LA JUNTA, Colo. — Law enforcement is investigating an apparent murder-suicide after four people were found shot inside a southeastern Colorado home Tuesday night, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said. 

Investigators said around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, two adults and two children were found shot in a home on Smithland Avenue in La Junta, which is about 60 miles southeast of Pueblo. 

The adults and one of the children died on the scene. The other child was taken to a Denver-area hospital, where they died. Their names have not yet been released. 

Investigators said few details are available at this time, but the initial investigation indicates this was not a random shooting, and the four people who died all knew each other. CBI and the La Junta Police Department are investigating the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide.
