Teen stabbed on Colfax was recent grad who used to mentor younger students

The Denver Police Department is still looking for suspects after stabbing along Colfax this weekend.

The attack happened Sunday night around 11:15 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a male victim unresponsive after being stabbed and assaulted. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later died.

With the help of witness statements, DPD said that officers found a juvenile male suspect and took him into custody. Investigators said they believe several people assaulted the victim and police are still looking for additional suspects.

On Tuesday, Metro Denver Crime Stoppers shared photos of two individuals police say were involved in the assault. The homicide is still under investigation.

Crime Stoppers identified the victim as Reese Grant-Cobb.

The victim’s family said he was 17 years old and just graduated from DSST Stapleton High School. Family members said Grant-Cobb participated in several sports including basketball, football and track.

A loved one said he mentored younger players, was involved in his community and helped with his mother’s farmers market

Family members said Grant-Cobb was planning to attend the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley this fall.
