The name of a 17-year-old who was shot and killed in West Colfax over the weekend was released on Tuesday.
According to the Denver Police Department, a person later identified as Ty Martinez was shot in the 3500 block of W. Colfax Ave around 7 p.m. on March 17.
Soon after that, a vehicle crashed into a building in the 3600 block of W Colfax.
Martinez was taken from the scene by ambulance to Denver Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
According to an autopsy from the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner, Martinez died from a gunshot wound. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Denver Police have not offered any information about a suspect, but are asking anyone in the area at the time of the shooting to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
