1 killed in fire in Denver

The cause of the fire near the intersection of Utica Street and 6th Avenue is under investigation.

DENVER — A person died in a fire in Denver early Sunday morning.

Denver Fire said a call came in at 2:24 a.m. for a structure fire near the intersection of Utica Street and 6th Avenue, a few blocks east of Sheridan Boulevard.

When crews arrived, they removed one person from the home who was pronounced dead.

Crews were able to get the fire under control and the scene was cleared by 6 a.m., Denver Fire said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim and cause of death.
