One man suffered life-threatening injuries in an officer-involved shooting in Aurora late Sunday night. No officers were injured.

Aurora Police made a traffic stop at 11:04 p.m. on Sunday at South Blackhawk Street and East Evans Avenue. The reason for the traffic stop has not been released.

Officers approached the Saturn sedan with four people inside. One of the passengers got out of the car at that time and tried to run.

Officers chased the man, who pulled out a handgun. That's when an officer fired at the suspect, hitting him an unknown number of times.

The suspect remains in the hospital. The other people in the car were detained. Aurora Police are now conducting an investigation at the crime scene.

The handgun held by the suspect was recovered at the scene.

The identities of the officer involved, as well as the suspects, are not being released at this time.
