COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A standoff near South Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs involving a suspect wanted in three shootings and two carjackings ended this afternoon, Colorado Springs (CSPD) police confirmed.

Police said there is a body in the house and asked people to avoid the area while they investigated.

The standoff stems from a string of incidents over the weekend in which police were called to multiple shooting scenes, CSPD said.

The suspect in those incidents was 27-year-old Kyree Davon Howard-Walker of Colorado Springs, police said.

CSPD responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Westmeadow Drive around 10 a.m. Saturday. Police said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to CSPD. Police learned the next day that he had died.

Around the same time, CSPD said they received a report of a carjacking in the 3700 block of Penny Point. That is just east of where the shooting occurred. Police said a male suspect stole a black Dodge Journey.

Then, just after 3:40 p.m., there was a report of another shooting, according to CSPD. Officers responded to the 200 block of South Wahsatch Ave. where they found a man who appeared to have been shot. He was brought to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive, according to CSPD.

While officers were on the scene of that shooting, police said they received reports that someone was shooting at cars near South Wahsatch Avenue and East Costilla Street. That's about two blocks south of the second shooting. Witnesses told police that the suspect stole a green Buick LeSabre with Colorado license plate 350-U0M. That car was later recovered.
