The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations that have been made against an art teacher at Sagewood Middle School in Parker, who has since been placed on administrative leave.

The teacher, identified as Ron Meier, has been at Sagewood since 1991 and was a substitute at the school before that, according to Douglas County School District spokesperson Paula Hans.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Lori Bronner said the school district told law enforcement about a complaint against Meier on Aug. 30.

Hans could not provide details about the allegations against Meier, and only said concerns were shared with school staff. She could not provide details about victims.

Bronner, meanwhile, said the district told the sheriff’s office about one student victim and that there could be others.

The allegations could range from harassment to unlawful sexual contact by a person in a position of trust, according to Bronner.

At this point, it’s not clear where the alleged crimes occurred.

Anyone with information that could be useful to the investigation is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at (303) 784-7800.

In a letter to parents, Sagewood Middle School’s principal Ben D’Ardenne said a long-term substitute will fill in for Meier during the investigation.
