D.C. private equity firm The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) appears to be getting into business with the owners of the iconic Mexican restaurant Casa Bonita in Lakewood and the creators of “South Park,” the long-running animated sitcom based in the titular Colorado town.
According to Bloomberg, the Park County media company owned by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone is in discussions with The Carlyle Group for a private loan valued at around $800 million that would be used to refinance an existing credit facility and fund a cash payout.
The loan would be backed by the intellectual property from the TV show, as well as related properties from the show creators, who are also behind the Tony award-winning musical “The Book of Mormon." The loan would be made through Carlyle’s credit arm and would refinance an existing $600 million debt facility provided by HPS Investment Partners in 2021, according to the report.
