CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — A unique Colorado property is now on the market.
LIV Sotheby's International Realty's Josh Jackson said it's one of the most distinctive properties to show in the mountains west of Denver.
Saint Mary’s Glacier Ski Area, which sat on 373 acres of land in Clear Creek County, hasn't operated in decades, but is ready for a new owner.
"What we’re looking at here is what was the base of Saint Mary’s Glacier Ski Area," Jackson said. "It was a modest ski area that operated from the mid-1930s to the mid-1980s."
After sitting vacant for decades, the historic ski area is for sale, including the buildings, old lifts and carved-out ski runs. The property is located about 20 miles west of the Denver metro area.
"You can still see the cuts in the trees," said Jackson. "We’re standing at just a little over 10,000 feet and the top of the property that we are bringing on the market is a little over 12,000 feet."
While the property used to be a ski area, Kristin Michas with LIV Sotheby's International Realty said it doesn’t have to stay a ski area, with people interested in a number of ventures on the land.
"There are so many visions and ideas that people are excited to explore," said Michas. "A ski area or any kind of outdoor adventure to a private ranch."
The price for the property is $7 million, but for that price someone gets an interesting piece of Colorado history and might also end up with a lifetime ski pass at their own private ski area.
"One easy payment of $7 million and you can have your own ski paradise for the rest of your life," Jackson said.
