GOLDEN, Colo. — The Coors family and its development team have landed on a new name for their ambitious redevelopment project in downtown Golden.

The developers have dubbed the new project “Clayworks” as an ode to both the Coors family’s origins in ceramics and the history of the site as the location of the Coors family’s ceramics-maker CoorsTek Inc.

The project, located on a 12.4-acre site at 600 Ninth St. and taking up five city blocks, soon will bring 1.25 million square feet of new office, residential, retail and hotel space to downtown Golden.

Dan Cohen, president of AC Development, is partnering with the Coors family to develop the new project. Cohen said the development team has been working with the real estate branding and advertising firm Strada over the past few months to land on the new name of Clayworks.
