Denver-based eyewear company Navajo Incorporated has acquired the Monument-based sunglasses company that made a name for itself by selling $20 "high definition" sunglasses.

Navajo has purchased Maxx HD Sunglasses, a distributor of sports, motorsports and NCAA-licensed sunglasses. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Maxx was founded in 2000 by Rick and Nancy Milner, who launched what is now a multi-million sunglasses company after they hawked sunglasses under a yellow tent on the side of the road. They grew that business into a fleet of trailers until they moved into a permanent facility in Monument. Over the years, the Millers inked deals with the Rockies and the Major League Baseball to provide sunglasses with team logos.

Now, Navajo, a provider of Piranha brand eyewear, expects the acquisition of Maxx to expand its circulation and deepen the range of styles provided to current customers.
