Village Inn's parent company files for bankruptcy protection

Village Inn has been closing restaurants in recent months, including those in Globeville and Aurora.

DENVER — The Nashville-based parent company of Colorado-born Village Inn has filed for Chapter 11 reorganization and closed 33 of its locations.

American Blue Ribbons Holdings LLC filed bankruptcy papers in Delaware on Jan. 27, while also noting that it had acquired $20 million from its majority equity owner, Cannae Holdings Inc., to "support the filing and plan of reorganization," according to a news release.

Village Inn has been closing restaurants in recent months, including those in Globeville and Aurora.

In its filing, American Blue Ribbons Holdings reported assets between $100 million and $500 million and liabilities between $50 million and $100 million.

American Blue Ribbon Holdings is the parent company to brands including Bakers Square as well as Village Inn. It moved from Denver to Nashville in 2012, according to previous Denver Business Journal reporting.
