Smashburger is making another executive-level change — this time increasing the day-to-day duties of one of its co-founders as it enters into the next phase of its growth.

Tom Ryan will have broad responsibilities in his new role as chief brand officer for the company, overseeing its marketing, concept, communications and publication relations.

The privately held company, which now has 365 locations, is poised for significant international growth after Philippines-based Jollibee Corp. acquired a 40 percent stake late last year.

Ryan's new role comes one week after the restaurant hired Mike Nolan, a specialist at mid-level companies, to take over as CEO.
