DENVER — Surrounded by new apartments, a music venue and fresh construction in every direction, Adam Block thinks it’s quite fitting that a vinyl record manufacturing plant is taking root in a century-old building in the River North Art District.
After all, good things take time. And with city permitting and supply chain issues helping to cause more than a year’s worth of delay, the owners of Vinyl Media Pressing know this all too well as they gear up to open.
VMP is affiliated with Denver-based record-of-the-month club Vinyl Me, Please, and it will begin making records imminently in a 14,000-square-foot warehouse located at 4201 N. Brighton Blvd.
The location comes with some very musical neighbors, including the music venue Mission Ballroom, the offices of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and record player manufacturer Victrola, not to mention being a part of the broader arts community in the River North Art District.
“Most record plants are tucked away in industrial, dirty parts of cities. The fact that we're where people who already love art, already love music are hanging out, that's crucial to the business model,” Block said.
