Home improvement businesses seeing boost during pandemic

One shop in Denver helps you spruce up your home while helping other local businesses too.

DENVER — Spending more time at home is unavoidable during the pandemic so why not make the best of it?

Micheline Stone is the owner of Creative Living in the Santa Fe Arts District. She said there’s been a lot of interest in improving outdoor living spaces recently.

“Whether it’s patios, yard rooftops, decks, we have seen it all," Stone said. "Everyone is trying to figure out how to stay at home and utilize their outdoor space. Scale-wise we have everything from pottery and chairs but we also have sofas, fireplaces.”

COVID-19 has created restrictions and forced people to stay at home and with these changes, Stone’s store is getting steady business.

“They are looking more toward their outdoor space as a sanctuary and they are trying to redo, remodel and update,” Stone said.

Outside fountains add a since of serenity to staying at home, and Stone said it’s not just her business that benefits.

“We want everyone to thrive here not just us, and we try and work as local as possible and support the community and give back to the community as much as we can,” she said.

Creative Living features pieces from Santa Fe Art District Artist both inside and outside of the store.

“Our fire pits are locally made so when you're buying from us you are supporting small businesses and those local artists that are struggling at this time,” Stone said.

Stone said her store is open but they are limiting the number of people allowed inside at a time. You can see all the local artists and pieces on the store's website.
