The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has named Kurt Gottschall its new associate regional director in charge of enforcement in its Denver office.

Kurt Gottschall is the new associate regional director for enforcement. Throughout his career he has investigated or supervised probes of dozens of securities law violations.

He's gone after an alternative fund manger for overhanging management fees and misleading investors, investments advisors for failing to seek the most favorable mutual funds share classes, and worked on bringing fraud charges against the promotors of a $30 million Ponzi scheme, the SEC said in the announcement.

“Kurt’s deep knowledge of the securities laws, creative thinking, and extensive experience will be significant assets in his new role,” said Andrew J. Ceresney, director of the SEC’s enforcement division. "The Denver office’s enforcement efforts have been immensely productive and I am sure Kurt’s leadership will only enhance their success.”
