GOLDEN, Colo — A renewable energy company based in the United Kingdom is considering building a headquarters and a new plant in the west Denver-metro area.

The unidentified company told state leaders that it's considering expansion and that the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and planned energy-focused Glo Park business district in the Golden area are major drivers of its location decision.

However, the company is also mulling locations in Texas, Delaware, and California, according to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).

The state's Economic Development Commission on Thursday offered $1.8 million in job growth tax credits to "Project Juniper" if the unidentified company locates here and creates 137 new jobs with roles like engineers, operator and supervisor. The jobs would pay an average of of $83,300 per year.

Currently, the company has just 15 employees, OEDIT said. The newly built plant would serve customers in North America and beyond.

Commissioners also offered $371,751 to lure a space and defense manufacturer to the Denver metro area and $299,115 for an industrial engineering firm to add a new location in Colorado Springs.
