The merger between Husch Blackwell LLP and Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek is now complete, making it the largest U.S. law firm merger so far this year.

The combined firm will operate under the St. Louis-based Husch Blackwell name and now has about 700 attorneys across the country, including 41 in its Denver office.

The merger will give the firm annual gross revenue of $346 million, placing it among The American Lawyer’s annual ranking of the nation’s 100 top-grossing law firms, the St. Louis Business Journal reported.

Milwaukee-based WHD did not have a Denver-area presence.

Law firm mergers are a growing phenomenon across the country, and the number of mergers so far this year are on track to meet last year’s record breaking number of 91 mergers, according to Altman Weil MergerLine, which tracks U.S. law firm combinations.
