A new museum dedicated to all things about Colfax Avenue opened on Saturday and is already getting national attention.
The Colfax Museum opened at 6109 E. Colfax Ave. in Denver, curated by Colfax historian Jonny Barber.
Barber's efforts were chronicled Monday in the Los Angeles Times, where he said of the historic road: “Everyone knows Route 66 because they had a better PR guy, a better song and a TV show. But much of American pop culture got its start on Colfax ... Everything that happened in Colorado or the American West passed through Colfax."
On the ColfaxAvenue.com website, Barber and the museum said that "we have an extensive collection of rare and one-of-a-kind items" dedicated to the road, which has been called the longest commercial street in the country.
