In historic Georgetown, developer Kurt Soukup with Big Horn Crossing says things haven't changed much over the years.
“Georgetown hasn’t had any development for five decades,” said Soukup.
That’s about to change along the rocky windswept land between Interstate 70 and Georgetown Lake.
The area is being transformed into a new development called Big Horn Crossing – one of the area’s largest developments that will mix townhomes, condo/apartments, and a hotel.
“We should have the first 11 done by end of July,” Soukup said. “We go to phase two and those will be done by Thanksgiving—it’s evolving very quickly.”
The development will add 64 townhomes, 72 condos and increase the population of Georgetown by 25 percent.
“The economic growth I think it will provide a real boost to this community,” said Soukup.
The site will also have a 77 room Wyndham Hotel and brewpub that will rent paddle boards and kayaks for recreation on the lake.
The first phase has sold out, but future condos will start around $250,000, and townhomes will start around $350,000.
