DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL — New e-bikes hit the streets of Denver today and you won’t have a hard time spotting them.
Lime, which brought bright green scooters to the Mile High City earlier this year, launched its even-brighter e-bikes on Monday. Similar to Uber’s Jump bikes, which launched in August, the e-bikes pedal like a traditional bicycle, but also include an electric motor that provides an extra boost during the trip.
The dockless e-bike works the same as the trove of scooters on the roads today: Users fire up the Lime app and scan in the bike to unlock it. Once they’re done, they lock the bike on their app, snap a photo for proof of parking and walk away. It costs $1 to unlock and 15-cents per minute of riding.
Lime has been permitted to launch 250 of its e-bikes, but is starting with 150 on the streets today, a company spokesperson told Denver Business Journal.
